Understanding the problem
An unusually heavy door, a loud bang or uneven movement can indicate a spring, cable or track problem. Stop operating the door and keep the opening clear.
What to include in your enquiry
Mention whether the door is open or closed, whether one side is lower and whether a cable is loose. Photos may help the repairer, but only take them from a safe position.
Before you book
Springs and cables are under tension. Leave adjustments, removal and replacement to a trained repairer. Ask for an assessment of the full door balance and operation after the repair.
